Alright, so here’s the thing. Back when Trump was calling the shots, I was on the Capistrano Unified School District board. Wild times! I mean, we’re talking the kind of stuff that makes your head spin. The article about immigration agents barging into L.A. schools on April 14? Yeah, it’s giving me flashbacks.

So picture this: kids in our schools, right? Suddenly, there’s this spike in bullying. And not just any kids – we’re talking about Latino kids, Middle Eastern kids. The reason? Well, duh, look at who was calling the shots then. Folks were legit worried that Border Patrol might just waltz onto campus and, you know, start rounding up families. Madness!

I hit up the district’s legal eagles. “What’s up with this?” I ask. “Can they just come in and take the kids?” And get this, turns out, every child in the U.S. is entitled to an education. Doesn’t matter if your family’s paperwork is sketchy or nonexistent. School’s a safe haven, or supposed to be. No way someone can snatch a kid without say-so from parents or guardians. We put that rule in gear to ward off any shady business, like abductions.

Fast forward, and Trump ices this ancient rule about not making arrests on school grounds. Like, schools have always been these “hands-off” zones. But even with that dumpster fire of a policy shift, agents can’t just swoop in. They gotta flaunt badges and whatnot and can’t detain kids all willy-nilly. Needs a legit judicial warrant, y’see? Major kudos to those L.A. principals for having the guts to keep federal folks at bay. Kids, documented or not, deserve a shot at due process here.

So yeah, life in this “free land.” One heckuva mess sometimes. But as long as there’s chaos, keep fighting the good fight. Peace out.
