Alright, so here it goes, a bit of a ramble from my brain to your eyes:
So, lately I’ve been rolling over this thing in my mind. You know, the whole “just buy the S&P 500” idea that’s been buzzing around like an annoying fly at a picnic. Can’t say I haven’t thought about it thanks to Ng Kok Song—yeah, the former GIC bigwig and, wait for it, even ran for President once, so that’s cool. Anyway, he tossed this idea my way a while back and it’s been like a persistent tune I can’t shake off.
Fast forward to my little adventure in Omaha for the 2025 Berkshire Hathaway AGM. Bit of a big deal, right? Met some seriously sharp folks, you know, the ones who wear glasses and know what all those numbers mean. We got into this deep dive about stocks and how everyone’s just tossing their cash into index funds like it’s the latest TikTok trend. It’s like, dude, really? Is that all there is?
It’s weird, right? Maybe this “buy and forget” thing works, but there’s this nagging thought. Like, are we overlooking the underdogs? The companies no one’s talking about yet. I mean, there’s gotta be more than just the big flashy names on all those market indices, no? There’s a whole world of small-cap companies just waiting to explode, or so I’d like to think late at night when I can’t sleep.
And there I was, just staring at my coffee, wondering if the next big thing is not just the obvious pick but something smaller, scrappier, something… more, you know. What if this 10X strategy isn’t just a dream? Anyway, I’m rambling. Maybe it’s the caffeine talking, or maybe I’m onto something. Or not. Who knows?
