Okay, so here’s the deal. Standard Bank Global Markets and, uh, Just One Lap are doing this thing — a video series, actually. It’s all about Actively Managed Certificates (AMCs) on the JSE. Yeah, these financial whatchamacallits. Honestly, I didn’t even know what AMCs were until I stumbled onto this. I was like, “Why does this matter?” But, hey, it’s maybe kind of interesting if you’re an investor or whatever.
So, the whole point is to get everyone clued up on each AMC, like what it really does, its whole vibe, and maybe even hear straight from the fund people. You know, the ones who actually run these things. Sounds fancy, right?
Oh, and this is session three, by the way. They brought in some managers or something. Here’s the lineup — if you care about that sort of thing:
So at about 1 minute 40 seconds in, there’s Sanlam. They talk about the Non-Linear Beta Strategy, which is, uh, AMC001? Whatever that means.
Then a bit later, Nvest Securities jumps in at around 33 minutes and 10 seconds. They’re juggling multiple portfolios: Global, Balanced, Stable, and General Equity. They’ve got these weird numbers too — AMC012, AMC006, AMC005, AMC014. Honestly, keeping track of all these is like herding cats. Why so many numbers, guys?
Anyway, if you’re curious about what came before this — like the first couple of videos — you can check them out here and here. Or don’t. Totally your call.
Oh, and why am I even bothering to mention this? No idea. It’s just one of those things you find yourself chin-deep in sometimes, ya know?
