Mr. Fine plays a pivotal role as the Portfolio Manager for the Third Avenue Value Strategy portfolios, which includes not only the Third Avenue Value Fund but also a variety of separately managed accounts. He is the driving force behind the Third Avenue International Value Strategy as well. As a principal at the Company, he also contributes his expertise to Third Avenue’s Management Committee.
Joining Third Avenue in 2000, Mr. Fine embarked on identifying promising investment opportunities at a time when the Argentine crisis of 2001 was unfolding. With a keen eye for detail, he earned the title of Senior Research Analyst by 2008. By 2014, his skillset had led him to manage the Third Avenue International Value Fund. Just a few years later, in 2017, he expanded his responsibilities to oversee the Third Avenue Value Fund and its associated portfolios. Over the years, he has amassed a wealth of experience in global investments, engaging with markets across North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia.
Mr. Fine’s academic background boasts a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Hamilton College. Beyond his formal education, he is actively engaged with The Economic Club of New York and holds a position on the Board of Trustees at Suffield Academy, where he chairs the Investment Committee. His commitment to excellence in his field is further underscored by his status as a CFA charterholder and his membership in the CFA Society of New York.
