Okay, here we go. Buckle up.

Courtney’s 40 and Ray’s 41, and their whole adult gig’s been all about the military vibe. But now retirement’s waving and, oh boy, it’s the giant abyss of "OMG, what now?"

For Ray, it means ditching the routine, rank, and hey, that sweet pension he’s been cooking up for more than two decades, and stepping into the civilian world, which, newsflash, is a whole other jungle. I mean, what even is a resume, right? And Courtney? Well, she’s diving into all things therapy, looking to finish grad school like a boss after 12 years chilling (or, you know, not chilling) as a stay-at-home superhero of three tiny humans.

They’re juggling three kiddos, plotting a massive move across the country, and trying to land on a forever place to stick their roots. So, can they just pause the retirement calculator for a sec and instead dream of something bigger? Can they carve out their version of "Rich Life"?

In this episode:

  • Masterclass can make you feel artsy in no time.
  • Stamps.com means no more post office lines—why not?
  • Leesa will sort your sleep game with some cool discounts.

Also, they’re pinching pennies, freaking out about investing, and wondering, “Are we even ready for the big military goodbye?” Do they stay, go, or just… dream bigger? Tune in to figure this brew of life’s soup out.

Links are scattered all over this episode—don’t trip! Grab whatever you want, from journals to transcripts; it’s all yours.

So Courtney’s kind of in this "life, please stop needing me to make new pals" zone at 40. Exhausting, am I right? Meanwhile, Ray is spiraling in the "What even is a grown-up job?" mindset. It’s a little, hmm, terrifying.

Heck, they’ve always tag-teamed the expenses with that strict "his pay, her bonus" model, and apparently, that ruffled some feathers. Ray felt the sneaky vibes, but it wasn’t really a cloak-and-dagger situation, more like Courtney needing a slice of self-pride pie.

By the way, have they saved enough for all this? Their so-called net worth sits pretty at $715K, with investments munching a $590K piece of that pie. Zero debt too—as rare as a three-dollar bill. That’s right!

It’s this leap into this civilian thing that’s got them all jittery, and pretty sure they’re not the only ones who feel that shaking-in-boots sensation when stepping into the unknown.

There’s something about all this that screams, "We’ve been following someone else’s playbook!" Suddenly, the big question blooms: What’s our Rich Life?

The numbers told them they’d be comfy, but comfy schmumpy—they want the magic. Well, best to lay out some dreams, let some whimsy peek through the blinds.

Rich Life isn’t just future-proofing. It’s taking the blind fold off, popping the cork, and just maybe… a little microneedling. Why not?

Anyway—are they breaking free? Diving into that whole “oops, turns out, we’re okay to live a bit?” Maybe the secret’s not in some pent-up numbers but… letting loose that control. Yikes. Let’s see if they dare to throw the rule book out and just live a little.

This episode is messy, real, and a bit wild—just like Court and Ray’s life puzzle.
