Former President Bill Clinton was recently admitted to a hospital in Washington due to a fever, a senior aide revealed to NBC News on Monday. Clinton, who is now 78 years old, is undergoing tests and being monitored at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, according to Angel Ureña, his deputy chief of staff.
“He’s in good spirits and thankful for the attentive care he’s receiving,” Ureña commented.
Despite the hospital visit, a close source reassured that the situation is not pressing. “The former president will be fine,” they shared. “He just wanted to get checked out after developing a fever. He’s awake and alert.”
Since leaving office in 2001, Clinton has had his fair share of health challenges. Back in 2004, he underwent a quadruple bypass surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, and in 2010, he returned to the same hospital for another heart procedure involving the insertion of two stents into a coronary artery. More recently, in 2021, he was hospitalized in California for six days due to a urological infection that had spread to his bloodstream.
This year, Clinton has been actively campaigning for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and recently published a memoir detailing his life after the presidency. Known for his enduring presence in political arenas, he has spoken at every Democratic National Convention since 1976, including the one this past August.
During his speech, he earnestly shared, “I want to say this from the bottom of my heart, I have no idea how many more of these I’ll be able to come to.”
